Vagrant Tale
Posted by Eddy in News, Web Zeroes on Oct.15, 2008.
So I was going to post this last night, but the water heater in my apartment exploded, flooding the entire thing. Kinda nuts. I’ll post pictures tomorrow, but rest assured, I saved our equipment in the ensuing torrential downpour of water.
Anywho, Smooth Few Films now presents Episode One of Web Zeroes, “On Hobos”, for your viewing enjoyment. In this episode, Nate, Alex and Ray try to figure out which game would be perfect for their new machinima endeavor. Episode Two should be out in a couple of weeks.
Video after the jump!
While the pilot was a little longer, this episode represents the normal length that we’re going to be aiming for with this series, about 5-6 minutes. Also, much thanks to our bud Alex for assisting with the sound.
Be sure to leave us a comment and tell us your thoughts. Thanks for watching, guys!
Stay tuned for more TLW news, coming later this week.
Enjoy!

Also, we’re doing something new with downloads. From now on, we’re going to start putting them up when the YouTube goes up, which will be the next day after a release. We want to start rewarding you guys for coming to our site, so you get to see stuff before everyone else.
So, downloadables will be up tomorrow.

Sweet, been checking the site for a while looking for this… “and if we cant think of anything well just use Halo 3″ lol classic
October 15th, 2008 on 5:52 pm
nice one.
I was kind of skeptical of WZ because it would take time that could be used the TLW. But this episode was great

Great episode
Just as good as the previous, if not better
Keep up the good work
October 15th, 2008 on 5:56 pm
Glad you liked it!
The interesting thing is, that “takes time away from TLW” thinking is kind of backwards. For one, WZ takes about 1/10 of the time to make that TLW does. Second, TLW will never be a source of any kind of money legally, whereas WZ can be. Making it ensures that in the future, we can keep making other fun things like TLW for free.

October 15th, 2008 on 7:53 pm
this is epic, why does it take so long for 1 episode though?
October 15th, 2008 on 7:55 pm
I was in another city for a month after we filmed the pilot. things like time and space make filming another episode difficult, at least in this dimension.
October 15th, 2008 on 7:55 pm
did ray actually get kicked out? lol really funny guys.
October 15th, 2008 on 8:02 pm
I noticed new intro, it looks a bit more polished, I like it, no loved it…
It was great.
I’m glad that time and space won’t be a problem any longer
Hope to see the next one soon.

Just a quick note… although this series is inspired by actual people and events, it’s pretty loosely inspired. A good rule of thumb is: if you’re wondering whether something in the show happened in real life, it probably didn’t.
October 15th, 2008 on 8:18 pm
Now I want cookies.
It’s weird not to have music under the logo – or is it just me? Other than that…
Man do I want cookies.

HAHA the first part before the intro was hilarious. I think you guys will do awesome with the rest of the series. Also there hasn’t been any news on G.R.I.E.F. in a while…

Great episode. For me there was only 1 issue that stood out. The Camera was to shaky. I understand it is for the reality series effect (like cops) but there was just to much shake for it to be real. If you wanted to you could do all the shots on a tripod then in after effects add in the shake (the con with that is to get it so there isn’t any extra image showing is that you’d have to crop what you wanted). Once again that is just me, I just think it would be better and more realistic if there was less shake or even used a tripod. It helps focus on the action.

G.R.I.E.F. got kind of put on the back-burner a little bit while the guys scrambled to get Web Zeroes in the can and ramp up production on TLW before Daniel had to go out of town. Not to fear, though, there should be some news on that front soon as well.
October 15th, 2008 on 10:20 pm
there will be music under the logo on the next ep. just an error in communication.
October 15th, 2008 on 10:44 pm
Great stuff, as usual. Can’t wait for episode 2 of WZ or the season premeire of TLW season 2 of course!

Poor Ray…But still a great episode!Keep it up guys…
October 16th, 2008 on 2:17 am
Damn you guys are really good at putting all this stuff together. You inspire me to make the “documentary” of being a broke car enthusiast college student. Then I realize that it won’t nearly be as awesome as what you guys create and so I go back to my useless youtube vids. Keep up the good work!
October 16th, 2008 on 6:06 am
Damn, getting evicted has got to be the worst feeling in the world. But you guys make it look funny as hell. At least you got dependable friends who will (hopefully) let you crash at their place.

Na, take your time. I can wait.

See? This is why we never tell release dates for anything.
Sorry, we had a snag in terms of our communication, and then Jeff went out of town, as he is normally the dude that puts up the downloadables for us. So, they’ll be up when we get a chance.
