Flaw and Disorder

So here we are, the release of Episode 13, “The Brothers Cardinal“. This is the calm before the storm, and there’s just one more episode to go before this season of The Leet World comes to an epic close. There’s a lot of intrigue here, and I think you guys will be happy to get a few questions answered.

    That scene where Player uses the Radio Command to ask for back up is excellent. I like how at the last minute it changes to Cortez’ scene just when Player’s Radio Command voice echoes out (where he looks as if he just heard something, excellent attention to detail btw since his head turns using the side that has the hearing aid thing).

    It’s a pleasant turn of events – the whole deal about Westheimer and stuff. I wonder, though, what happens to Ahmad because of those headaches.

    There’s just an unpredictable change of events happening soon, I bet.

    Wow great episode! One thing that I came to realize in this episode is that Ahmad had really developed as a character because now he doesn’t act like a noob too much but instead wants to help out his team and save cortez. I feel that in the epic finale of the leet world Ahmad won’t be noobing in the middle of the battle like he always does but that isn’t to say that he will be a very good player similar to someone like cortez but instead he will try to focus and help out his team and try his best and not do anything stupid like throw a grenade towards his teammates lol. You really have to feel bad for Ahmad especially after reading his story, he never had any friends and no one ever liked him but now the terrorist team could be his first real friends that he ever had. I hope that later on in the series that Ahmad will be a better team player and actually get serious during the challenges.

    On a side note: If the domination guy was defeated by Mendoza then how can the leet world cast expect to beat Mendoza + the rest of the ocho muertos either way this is gonna be very intense.

    My one question – how does the producer fit into all of this. He was clearly pulling the strings to get a more entertaining show, but how he did that, that’s what I’d like to know.

    Come on guys….this show was once based around the humor, thats what brought me in. As much as i love the story, and how it’s developing, you can’t sacrifice the funny for it. It’s been reduced to mere sex jokes and short “chuckles”. Its too serious….don’t take the path that rooster teeth has taken… nothing lies down that road but disappointed fans and redundancy.

    You guys sure as shit have the talent and the dream, but don’t take away from the original beauty of this series. Show us how creative you are, like you did before!

    And i would love to see more people giving feedback, and not just giving the standard “LoL Th4t w45 4w350m3″….because those comments lead nowhere, and yield no information to the creators.

    Guys, the season is ending, not the show. They’ll be back. When Eddy says “Only 1 more episode..” he means the season, they already said that they’ll do a second season. They cannot wrap up everything in 1 epicsode. (lawl)

    I have a question now about the Ocho Muetros…..Since Dominination man is dead arn’t there only 7 members now? so Siete Muetros and don’t you guys have to do another challenge, I have an idea about how it can be done but you don’t want my help >:( lawl.

    I have to admit, the funny level in the series has dropped. It’s still addictive to watch for the story but it’s got far to serious. There was so much dialogue and nothing else in this episode.

    You should re-watch a few of your earlier episodes to see how the style has changed. It poked fun at CS and other things far more. I used to laugh out loud almost every episode but that hasn’t happened for a long time 🙁

While this episode had it’s humor, the only part I really laughed out loud was the thought that Ellis had of Ahmad with eggbeater and some perserverence. But, just like RvB, this happens when the plot thickens and a season reaches a climax… it’s still fun to watch and incredibly addictive, but try to make more jokes count and maybe use more of that tongue and cheek/videogame streotype humor that worked well in erliy ep’s. I know u guys can do it 😉 !!!

    Although I do appreciate the fact that you guys took the time to share your concerns instead of just saying something like “this show sucks now!”, something you have to understand is that the makers of this show are primarily interested in telling a really great story and developing fascinating characters. That means you’re going to get all sorts of DIFFERENT kinds of stories.

    Some of the episodes are going to be purely comedic, some are going to be more “serious” and dramatic, some are going to be action-packed, and some might even be intense or scary. You’re going to get all of those different tones, not just comedy, and sometimes you’ll get more of one than the other, and sometimes you’ll get them all at once.

    If all you want is comedy, I recommend sticking with the shorts. Those are always going to be about wall-to-wall jokes and satire. The Leet World is a whole different animal.

    So are you saying that the first few episodes of the season were meant as a hook then when they knew they had a following they messed with the formula to do what pleases them? kinda sneaky….

    Or in another situation you could argue that they have planned this all along. Which would seem odd. Why would they decide to change the entire mood of the show over the course of one season? I understand they HAD to do it so we would take the story seriously, but can’t we have a cake and eat it too? You tried that a little more with the past few episodes, but i have yet to see a REAL attempt.

    I’ll always watch the new episodes, thats for sure, but whether i enjoy them or not is purely up to the creators. Sure i’m one person, but theres probably a lot more people than just me that haven’t spoken up.

    Or you just ignore my feedback entirely, and listen to all those “yes-sir”‘s that have posted up there. That wouldn’t be so terrible, you make the videos and they comment “Th4t W45 teh be5t eva”. Its a win win situation, everyone feels good all-around.

    Yeah, every episode in the first half of season 1 was so hilarious, even the challenge in De_Dust2. That episode had drama, suspense and plot moving along. I think that happened in every episode even if it was slow.
    Now the second half seems to be all plot with few side gags, which are really funny btw, but it still lacks the fun.
    You could make longer episodes or make more episodes but that would lose the drama

    It is difficult to do both when you have got the momentum and want to keep it going but the sad fact is that for me (and a few others) there won’t be as much laughing down the way. More tense chewing of fingernails (in a good way) though…

    Having said this I AM STILL LOOKING FORWARD toward the next episode which will be epic!!

    Personally, I’ve never considered the show “dramatic”. To tell a drama with these goofy characters would be kind of silly. I mean, the “epic” plot is so overblown and over the top that I find it hilarious. Anywho, I want to say thanks to all the guys who have voiced concerns over the humor. It’s great to see some thoughtful comments, and I love it because it’s all born out of love for what we do- seriously, thanks.

    I’m not one to make excuses but I will say a couple of things about it.

    1) The episodes are packed with story because we cut the number from 16 episodes down to 14. We realized that TLW was killing us and we have to take at least a couple of months off in the summer. So yeah, it leaves less room for those interstitial scenes that are packed with gags. We had a limited amount of time to do everything that needed to happen to take us to the end.
    2) That being said, I LOVE this half of the season more than the first. It’s great because it’s a learning process. The first half may have been funnier, but the story moved too slowly, in my opinion. The 2nd half is jam packed with story, but not necessarily as full of gags. As a storyteller, this is more satisfying. We’re figuring it out as we go, and I think season 2 is going to be so great because of it. Besides, during the summer, you’ll be seeing frequent TLW shorts that are just full of jokes.

    In addition to all of that, we’re letting Episode 14 go on as long as it needs to- meaning that there’s room for the pure joke scenes as well as everything else. I think this episode could be our best one yet. Once again, I’m really happy with episode 13, and we hear your concerns. Just because we want to tell a story doesn’t mean that’s mutually exclusive with those who want the series to be funnier- our goal is to do both. So don’t worry. Personally, like I said, I think it should only make you more excited for what’s to come. We’ve learned a lot in this last year, and I think it’s showing and will continue to show.

    Also, what will happen in Second Season, you can’t get better characters than this. And I think they should focus a bit more on the challenges, they’re quite good at filming battles and fights and stuff, though the back history rules.

    Hey Eddy, Nick and Daniel you guys are some of the most creative minds ive seen behind a machinima and this series is a great balance in the fact that has action, story and jokes the jack of all trades. This episode is priceless in every sence of the meaning and the pain working in the gmod pays off ten fold. I love how you have set the epic battle taking place within ahmad and the angles and the choppy scenes that show his internal pain. (this episode and 12) You have done all cs:s players a service with this machinima i dont know about others but after watching episodes im always in the mood to go play. Great Job Guys im not trying to sound trite or seem like a brown noser you guys are amazing with the dedication you have put into the making of these project.
