The Leet World VLOG: Hype Train

Hey everyone! We’ve got a new vlog update about the status of Season 3, plus a couple of ways that you can help us out over the next week or so. The first of which is the imminent teaser. We’d love for you guys to share the teaser when it comes out so we can let as many old fans as possible know that the show’s coming back.

The other big news is that we just put a TLW sticker up in the CSGO workshop! If we’re fortunate enough for this sticker to get voted into the next CSGO update, it would be a really huge deal for us in terms of getting help with production funds and just continuing to spread the word about Leet World. If you can, do us a favor and go vote yes!

<3 you guys

April’s Super Punctual Leet World Update

So I’ve had a bit of a Sarlacc monster dropped onto my life in the form of a brand new fledgling human, which has limited my ability to post any meaningful updates. When faced with the choice of talking to you fine folks, working on Leet World, playing CSGO or sleeping in my “free” time, you can guess which of these I choose (Counter-Strike, duh).

Production is moving along, but has had its share of bumps over the last month. We’re not as far into the season as we’d hoped we would be at this point, and we’ve had to have some discussions about scope, workflow, etc., but everything is still in a good spot. It turns out there’s a reason that nearly every major SFM project has abandoned SFM in the middle of its use, because SFM is hard. Go figure.

Right now we’re making a push to finish out the first two episodes, and we’re working on getting episode 3 up and running at the same time while writing episode 4. We’ve gotten some great help recently from some amazing volunteers, and now the whole project is hitting an awesome stride.

Which means we’ve got things to show you soon. There’s a new teaser coming along any week now, and with it we’ll have a way for you guys to help us get the word out and possibly help us with production as well. I’ll post more about that later this week!

And now for a question: how many of you Smooth fellas and ladies would be interested in some eSports CSGO content? Nick and I in particular have become fanatics (pun intended) about competitive CS lately, and we’re wondering about turning it into something we can do regularly and post here. Obviously we’d only do this if it didn’t conflict with our Leet World schedule. Thoughts?

The Trio: Leet World Season 3 Screenshot

Here we go, ladies and gents. Another Leet World Season 3 screenshot. This one is actually from Episode 2, and shows a gathering of more than one character you might recognize. One of them is a sassypants, and the other loves burros.

Leet World Season 3 Episode 2

Things are still progressing, although a bit slowly at the moment since my wife and I (hi, Diane) just had our second little girl and Daniel is off in Japan having samurai sword fights. We hope to have a bit of a teaser ready for you guys in the near future, where you can actually see some of these guys both walking and/or talking. Maybe even both at the same time!

Still Trucking

I wanted to make a short update to let everyone know that yes, things are still moving along with TLW Season 3. We are currently hard at work on Episode 2 and moving into production stuff on Episode 3, plus a surprise that should be making its way around these parts soon.

Why the lack of updates? A variety of reasons:

  • We’re sort of at a stage where we can’t show much of anything of value to you guys. It’s a tough place to be when you don’t want to spoil anything or give much of the premise away before it’s time. Soon we’ll be able to give you guys actual footage, but until that moment we’re intentionally keeping a tight lid on things. First impressions are important. After that happens, expect us to show our hand a bit more frequently.
  • February/March have been incredibly busy for all of us on a personal and professional level. The guys got slammed with some big jobs out in LA and I’ve got a baby coming almost literally any minute now. When we’re that busy, our free time goes to the show, and stopping to make some more behind the scenes content actually delays production. Which is sad, because I love doing it!
  • We’ve sort of gotten addicted to CS: GO again. Nick and I especially have been watching pro matches, and are looking forward a great deal to Katowice later this week. This is a problem.

So, just wanted to give you guys a quick shout and let you know that yes, us and the project are still alive. More to come soon. Back to faceposing.

The Leet World VLOG: Motion Capture

In the newest edition of the TLW VLOG, we give a little preview of how we’re utilizing motion capture in season 3 of Leet World. While most of what we’re doing amounts to the homiest of home brews, we also had the opportunity to travel to Austin recently to work on a fight scene that happens early on in the season.

No doubt many of you have heard by now that one of Rooster Teeth’s staff, Monty Oum, passed away last week. Monty was the creator of RWBY, one of the heads of Rooster Teeth’s animation department, and an all around great human being, without whom we wouldn’t have been able to complete our motion capture when we visited in December. He took time out of his Saturday to make sure that we had everything we needed, and constantly came in to help us troubleshoot any issues we were having. It was a very kind gesture for someone who had no stake in our project whatsoever.

While I didn’t know Monty well, I’ve worked on a couple of things here and there with him throughout my time of contract writing for Rooster Teeth. I’ve always been amazed at his drive, his creativity and the way his mind worked. One of the highlights of my life was seeing my words brought to life with Monty’s animation in season 10 of Red Vs. Blue. It was a special memory that is only possible because of the many gifts he gave his fans and viewers.

Rest in peace, Monty. Thanks for pouring yourself into your work.

First Look: Leet World Season 3 Screenshot

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted a screenshot of an upcoming episode of The Leet World. We’ve been keeping mum on the show as much as we can since it’s still quite a ways out, but we’re starting to hit that point where we can give you guys a few glimpses and teases. Part of that is due to the nature of working in a new medium — we’re still trying to work out some of the kinks of Source Filmmaker. And part of that is we want to do as much as we can to make the show still feel like Leet World even though the characters are capable of new things, like karate chops.

Speaking of. Episode 1’s got a few familiar faces in it, and Leeroy just happens to be one of them. He’s mighty concerned about something.

The Leet World VLOG: In the Audio Booth

We’ve got a new VLOG up for you guys to enjoy. Here’s Nick recording some Chet lines for Season 3 of The Leet World.

It’s been so long since we’ve used these voices, you can tell that it takes a bit of time to work into that Chet groove. We’ve said it before, but we really can’t wait for you guys to see some of this stuff coming together. Stay tuned for more.

VLOG: Behind the Scenes

Hey smooth dudes and ladies.

We’ve recently hit a very small milestone in terms of Season 3 production. Daniel and Nick are on the scene to tell you a little bit more about it. Maybe you’ll see a familiar nerd in the background, too.
