The Hunt for Red Bot-tober.

huntHere’s Season 2, Episode 12 of The Leet World, I, Cyborg. This takes us right up to the edge of the finale, which will be a two parter to close out the series. Weird, huh?

So in this episode, the cast deals with some of Leeroy’s more WTF-inducing revelations, namely that they’ve got a homicidal psycho killer cyborg living amongst them. Some guys say some things to each other, there’s also some gun toting, a few chuckles, and even another WTF or two, because we throw those things out with no regard for human life. Or cyborg life, if that’s your style.

Anywho, check out the TLW premiere page if you’re looking for the higher res version of the episode, or just hit the jump to see the normal one.

The Nine

Thanks for the responses to Episode 8, Hide and Sneak. Episode 9 will be out next week, and is about to enter the editing process via the bearded one himself, Nick. We’re spending a lot more time putting the finishing touches on our episodes this season, and I really think it’s shown so far. While he works on that, Daniel and I will be tag-teaming Episode 10, WWE style. There will be dropkicks, sirs.

The next few episodes dish out equal parts intrigue and answers. It might rule a little. Or at least, that’s the hope. Anywho, here are some screenshots from the next episode, “Stranger in the House”. Enjoy!

Also, the Houston Rockets and Star Trek are totally going to interfere with TLW this weekend, somehow. But I’m ok with that. Who else is seeing the movie?

Somewhere Over the Outtakes

mic2That’s where the lulz live.

Here are the audio outtakes from Episodes 5 and 6 of Season 2. I was going to include 7, but to be honest, there was plenty of goofy material for me to use, so Episodes 7 and 8 will be lumped together in a couple of weeks.

As always, lots of us goofing around in our absurd character voices, some movie quotes, and even some singing numbers to boot. In particular, I’m a fan of Ben discovering the “investigating each other’s privates” line as he’s reading it, and instantly cracking up. Many of you don’t know this, but the dude actually delivers his lines cold, with no prior knowledge of the script, which makes his voice work doubly impressive if you ask me.

Anyways, here are the outtakes. Right click and select “save as” to download.

In other news, Episode 8 is coming out next week. Wewt.

Even Darker Nights

hype-train1Episode 7 should be gracing your monitors at some point next week, and we couldn’t be more excited. I’m not trying to get the hype train going overboard or anything, but I’ll admit that I’ve been looking forward to this episode since we started working on the season. When you’re working on a long term project like this, it takes a Herculean effort to not get ahead of yourself when you’ve got cool things down the road. I think we’ve done a decent job of it so far.

Anywho, some surprises are in store for the cast (and you dudes) in Episode 7, to say the least. You might pick up on one or two through the screenshots, or maybe there’s nothing there at all and I just want to make your brains hurt. Both of these things are possible.

Enjoy!

The Big Cinco

snowThanks for all the great responses to Episode 4, dudes. Season 2 can be likened to a tiny snowball thrown down a hill, that just gets bigger and bigger until it demolishes some humble village down below. Only instead of snow, this ball is made of awesome. And instead of some humble village, it’s you people.

Over the next few weeks, we’re going to be filming some of what we do so that we can put together a nice little “making of The Leet World” feature. I’m really hoping we can show some of our process and have it be a mini-tutorial on Source machinima as well. Either that, or it’ll just be us acting like morons. I’m cool with either.

Speaking of the future, here are some screenshots lifted directly from some place later in our own frenzied timeline. Well, not really, but they are from Episode Five, so that’s kind of the future, right?

Title Sequence is Titley

Seriously. Horde mode on Gears of War 2 is ruining my life. And I mean that in the best way possible. Also, I checked out the Left 4 Dead demo, and left some impressions on GamerSushi… I was a little underwhelmed by it, but it was still lots of fun. I mean, it’s Valve, so you know it’s good.

This is basically just a quick update to show you guys a little screen grab from the title sequence Daniel is working on for Season 2 of The Leet World. It features the lovable Westheimer, striking a sexy pose.

Keep in mind this is a work in progress, and I’d like to remind you how the Web Zeroes title sequence changed from the original screenshot I showed way back when. Anywho, feast your eyes upon it and be teased.

And speaking of Web Zeroes, Episode 2 of that will be up before you know it. Or maybe after. I can never tell. We’re sneaky that way.

Premiere Pics

We appreciate all of the comments on the Season 2 teaser/Halloween message/release announcement thing we put out. Glad you guys are enjoying the ride leading up to the second season. Trust me, we are too. We’ve had some bumps, but now everything is running smoothly. Much thanks to Lord Ned for the assistance with some of my Hammer frustrations.

And while I’m thinking about it, I have some screenshots from Episode 1 of Season 2. Enjoy!

I know that some of you are having problems logging in. That comes from some pretty hardcore caching we’ve got set up on the site- all you need to do is just refresh the page (try it more than once if you need to) and it should help.

There’s a cool new post up on GamerSushi, titled “5 Features That More Shooters Need”. Thought you guys would like it since I mention some Counter-Strike in there.

Also, the dudes over at The Duo Group have just put out a new Gears of War machinima, as well as the guys over at LitFuseFilms. It seemed appropriate to mention these in honor of the hallowed Gears of War 2, which I will be beating like it stole something later this week.

Start Your Engines

Season 2 production is fully underway. We got together and recorded audio for episodes 1-3 the other night, and it was definitely a time saver already to do them all at once. Since the hard part is getting everyone together and then getting started, it really took about the same amount of time as it does for one episode. The method is already working!

The reason I waited so long to update this week is because I was hoping to have something cool to share with you guys, but I’m going to have to wait just a little longer. Rest assured, a barrage of content is going to start coming out next week, ranging from Web Zeroes episodes to TLW teasers, screenshots and even the soundtrack very soon.

Also, I’m not sure how many of you are familiar with Ross Scott’s work, but he has put together a brilliant machinima piece called “Oil’s Well” that he produced in Half-Life 2. Give it a watch, and visit his website.

Season 2 Update and WZ Screenshots

Wanted to give you guys a couple of production updates, as well as some screenies from the new episode of Web Zeroes that we filmed over the weekend. For future information, 9:30 am-11:30pm shoots were first thought up by the devil. And carried out by his bee-eff-eff Daniel, our steely-resolved director.

The first two episodes of The Leet World, Season 2 are almost written. There are some things we learned from the Finale – namely, that filming 3 “episodes” at once goes a lot faster than the normal method.

The idea this season is to film in 3 episode chunks. It’ll be an interesting experiment. So, by the time we release Episode One, we should be done filming the first three. What’s even cooler for you guys is that in theory, you should be getting a new episode almost exactly every two weeks on the dot, and in the meantime, we’re three episodes ahead, not killing ourselves. I’m a fan of the not killing ourselves part.

Of course, that’s all in theory, which, like Nick’s beard, is the subject of much speculation and myth. Men have died on those furry peaks. We’ll see how it goes. Filming hopefully starts next weekend.

Here are those screenshots I promised thirty seven seconds ago:

The Prodigal Son

After several months of being away, Daniel has finally returned to Houston, marking the end of a production lull for us here at Smooth Few Films. We’ve been working on some pre-production and housekeeping things (new sites, scripts, etc), but now we can fully jump into things like Web Zeroes, G.R.I.E.F. and early work on Season 2 of The Leet World.

Our break for the last few months was much needed, as we had driven ourselves into exhaustion after working on TLW for a year straight (seriously). It was a time fraught with ups and downs, but we learned a lot of lessons from it, and we have a plan to make everything easier on ourselves moving forward. You’ll hear more about that soon.

In other news, the TLW soundtrack is essentially finished. We have to take a few more steps before we can actually put it up for sale. We’ll make a post soon enough detailing prices, but rest assured, it’ll be affordable, and it’ll be worth every penny. In addition, you’ll be able to get individual songs if you don’t want to get the whole album.

Also, a new TLW Season 2 teaser is on the way for hopefully sometime next week, with some Web Zeroes bloopers dropping soon as well. Things are kicking into full gear again, and there will be tons of content coming over the next couple of weeks. Oh, and one other thing…

Who dat?
