Ambushed!

Well, you asked for it enough and now you have it: the music from the Episode 11 trailer. Those with keen ears may have recognized that the music first appeared in Episode 4, during the bulk of Round 2’s epic face-off. The song is aptly titled “Ambush at Bombsite B”.

There is a reason we don’t always release what you guys ask (and in some cases, beg) for. And not just because we’re jerks. Part of the issue is that these “songs” that are recorded by Jace (aka DamnDangerous) are really just snippets or pieces of music that are scored to the particular scene in which they appear in the episode. That means they’re only about 20 seconds long in some cases or two minutes long in others, depending on the scene.

For instance, we get a lot of requests for the Producer’s “theme”- but in reality, it is only 15 seconds long or so, and we take issue with releasing boring or lackluster content. However, something cool is in the works as far as the music of The Leet World goes that I think you all will heart very much. Stay tuned.

A Trailer of Epic Proportions

The Leet World is a reality show about Counter-Terrorists and Terrorists facing off against one another, to determine which team is the best of all. A season consists of three challenges. The first team to win two challenges (out of three), become the victors for the season.

The Counter-Terrorists have already won once. Can they pull it off again? For more reasons than one, a lot is on the line in Episode Eleven. We were kind enough to provide you guys with a trailer. Enjoy!

The SFF Album

This post is more like an album than a post, in that it is supplied with many pictarz. What is so interesting about these pictures? Well, the first set is a few nifty shots from Episode Eleven, complete with some nice teases. Take a gander:

Terrorist Talk, with our host Cortez The encounter. Waiting in the dark.

These next shots are to show you a little about the process that goes behind The Leet World. If you didn’t know– Nick, Daniel, and myself are the three that put this show together. We meet up a few times a week in a room filled with computers (6 to be exact) and make this series at your urging whip cracks, shouts, threats and demands.

It’s not a glamorous ordeal by any means. In fact, if you were with us while we filmed, edited, etc, you would probably find yourself bored to tears. But nonetheless, here is a behind-the-scenes view at Smooth Few Films.

In the first three shots below, you can see 3 of our “actor” computers, which we use as characters in the scene. Picture two shows Daniel and Nick setting up a shot, and the third shows me and Nick pretending to be friends. Nick’s not a great actor. The last three are just more shots of us doing our thing.

The set-up. Daniel and Nick previewing a shot. Eddy and Nick pretend to be friends.

Nick in a rare moment- happiness. Daniel and Nick review the script and shot sheet. Eddy with a “storyboard”.

More fun extras coming soon!

Down the Tracks

A close look at the first screenshots from Episode Eleven will more than likely reveal the location of the next challenge. Thought you guys might like the answer to that particular question. We’ve been excited about this episode for awhile, and we really think you guys will have fun with it. From our website statistics, it’s apparent that Episodes 4 and 8 are the most viewed, and we’re guessing it’s because of all the shooting and explosions. Rest assured, you will have plenty of those in our next installment.

Screenshots are below.

Video game news from the webz: LitFuse Films releases their new short, Valve shows off Left 4 Dead, the April Fools “Lego Halo” game, Team Fortress 2 is updated, and the coolest website ever- a list of the top 100 NES games– click on one and you can play it in your browser!

Funny Business

Episode 9 and 10 Outtakes, anyone? They’ve arrived. I’m excited, because 1) I’m a fan of extras, and 2) it’s been awhile since we’ve been able to post outtakes. The funny thing is, we would do it every episode, but we’ve gotten fairly efficient at getting in the sound booth (my closet) and getting our stuff done. Occasionally, we start goofing around or forget that we’re being recorded, and that’s when you get these comic gems.

Episode 11 is currently being filmed. Some of the first screenshots will be up this weekend.

Leeroy’s Masterpiece

We promised it when we released Episode 10, so here it is: the premier of Leeroy’s short film, “Conform”.

[Sarcasm]  It is a heartfelt drama about… well, really, you’ll just have to watch it for yourselves. Leeroy’s a deep thinker, you see, and that kind of stuff just goes over my head.

Other quotes about the movie:

“NeEDS MOAR SeTS!11!”- Player

“A digimal triumph.”- Ellis

“I don’t know what the f— this movie is about.”- Chet

Try to enjoy. You won’t be able to if you’re not artsy enough. At least, that’s what Leeroy told us.[/Sarcasm] Also, expect some more extras by the end of the week.

FYI- This movie is a joke. It’s supposed to be bad.

Chamber of Dorkness

We now present Episode Ten of The Leet World, “Reel Drama”. I think you guys will like the way this one turns out. Stay tuned as the next few updates will bring audio outtakes, a podcast (hopefully), and the public release of a certain cast member’s new movie. Not necessarily in that order.

Enjoy, and feel free to Digg at will!

It is Nigh

Not the end. Episode Ten.

I know you’ve all been waiting for an update, so here it is: Episode Ten is coming very soon. Over the week, we’ve hit a few snags, so I don’t want to say exactly when it’ll be- just keep in mind that whenever that fabled release moment is, it’s soon.

The Bag Boy is receiving some solid attention, which is nice. Much thanks to Destructoid.com for giving us some face time. The idea for the video came about a few weeks ago. We wondered what it would be like if two guys were in combat together and one of them teabagged a “corpse”, as it were. What kind of reaction would that elicit in real life? I think the end result came out pretty well.

Some notable gaming links: Zero Punctuation’s GDC Special, Final Fantasy XIII in 2010, the 15 most annoying game characters, MS gets a red ring of death at GDC, tons of new Mario Kart Wii info, and Mario Galaxies on the SNES. The last link is actually kind of incredible.

The Writing Process

It seems the trailer has put people in a bit of a frenzy. Always nice.

In case you’re unaware (meaning that you didn’t pay attention to the credits), Episode Nine had a guest writer: our long-time friend and excellent webmaster, Jeff (unsquare for those of you on the forums). I typically write out the scripts for each episode, which can be a tiring process over the course of a season- so I was definitely excited when Jeff started showing an interest in writing an episode for us a few months ago. He’s one of the more talented writers I know, so that was certainly a bonus, too.

Anywho, Jeff has written an article about the process of writing the episode for us, and I must say it’s a good read, especially for those of you who are interested in how the show is put together. Read it: Jeff’s article about The Leet World.

On another note, please don’t start sending us scripts for episodes of The Leet World- we’re fine, thanks.

More updates: 1)Two more screenshots of Episode Ten can be viewed below. 2)The Halo short should be here in the next couple of days.

The Valentine’s Day Trailer

It’s not quite candy and flowers, but it will have to do.

We try to deliver when we say that there are going to be some nice extras, so I bring a gift: a trailer for Episode Ten of The Leet World. Work on the episode is going well, with the bulk of shooting now complete. It should be out at some point next week, barring some calamity of the heavens. Which, if you’ve been around our “studio”, can (and frequently does) happen. In the meantime, there will be plenty of treats for you guys between now and then- our new short is on its way rather soon.

In addition, here’s some gaming news from the week: Is BioWare making a new KOTOR game, Zero Punctuation assembles some SimCity stuff, Pandemic supposedly making a Battlefield/LOTR style game, a ridiculous MGS 3 video, and a huge TF2 Valentine from Valve.
