Introducing: GamerSushi

GamerSushi is a new gaming blog run by your lovable dudes at Smooth Few Films, plus a couple of friends. It’s a place where we talk about all things gaming related, where the focus is “Byte Sized Bits” of gaming info and features.

Nick and Jeff did a great job putting the site together, and I think you gamers (which is most of you) will really like it. GamerSushi should be updated with gaming content several times a day, especially during PAX this weekend. While there I will be posting videos and pictures of games that aren’t even out yet that I view on the showroom floor.

Anywho, go check it out, register and join in on the discussions. The site’s not quite finished just yet, and is a work in progress, so be patient during the growing pains. Also, this is just one of a few sites we’re working on. We hope to see you guys there regularly.

Down the Tracks

A close look at the first screenshots from Episode Eleven will more than likely reveal the location of the next challenge. Thought you guys might like the answer to that particular question. We’ve been excited about this episode for awhile, and we really think you guys will have fun with it. From our website statistics, it’s apparent that Episodes 4 and 8 are the most viewed, and we’re guessing it’s because of all the shooting and explosions. Rest assured, you will have plenty of those in our next installment.

Screenshots are below.

T3h leakz Tattling Spawn schemes

Video game news from the webz: LitFuse Films releases their new short, Valve shows off Left 4 Dead, the April Fools “Lego Halo” game, Team Fortress 2 is updated, and the coolest website ever- a list of the top 100 NES games– click on one and you can play it in your browser!

The Valentine’s Day Trailer

It’s not quite candy and flowers, but it will have to do.

We try to deliver when we say that there are going to be some nice extras, so I bring a gift: a trailer for Episode Ten of The Leet World. Work on the episode is going well, with the bulk of shooting now complete. It should be out at some point next week, barring some calamity of the heavens. Which, if you’ve been around our “studio”, can (and frequently does) happen. In the meantime, there will be plenty of treats for you guys between now and then- our new short is on its way rather soon.

In addition, here’s some gaming news from the week: Is BioWare making a new KOTOR game, Zero Punctuation assembles some SimCity stuff, Pandemic supposedly making a Battlefield/LOTR style game, a ridiculous MGS 3 video, and a huge TF2 Valentine from Valve.

“Wait” Problem

The long wait is almost over. Episode Nine of The Leet World releases next week! As always, we’re not going to commit to a specific date- but it will be here next week for sure. All of the sweaty palms, fingernail biting, and general fretting will finally be over as you see what becomes of your favorite characters in the next half of Season One. And trust me, we’ve got a lot of great stuff in store for this half.

I figured I’d bring you guys a couple more screenshots to help satiate your appetite, even if just slightly. Also- there might be another special preview of Episode Nine during the weekend. Just saying.

The Break Room Spotlight on Ellis

If you’re interested, here is some rad gaming news from around the internetz: EA Calls Fox Out (this story is so full of drama, I love it), Super Mario 2 is better with drums, a date for GTA IV, kids teabagging kids, and the Wii is set to dominate the Cube.

Theme Song!

There are a lot of questions that we get asked repeatedly while producing our silly little internet series. Let’s run through a few of them, shall we?

“When is (insert episode number) coming?”

“Can I be a voice?”

“Will you marry me?”

“Where can I download the theme song?”

For some reason, we’ve never posted the theme song to The Leet World here. I guess we were always busy, you know, making the show. Jace, aka Damn Dangerous writes the music for our series, and you can definitely check him out at his myspace page– add him as a friend, he likes those. You can also get the theme tune here:

I know you’re all starving for Episode Nine details- but not yet. You will know more soon. For now, feel free to sign up for the forums, help us build our community, and re-watch your favorite episodes. Also, I have rounded up some of the best news tidbits of the last week or so from around the gaming industry:

The top 10 blunders of 2007, Sony repeats that MGS4 is PS3 exclusive, video games lead to a father shooting a son, the 360 is on pace for gaming’s best year ever, Japan loves them some Wii, and Warner Bros. sticks a fork in the next-gen format war.

Update Time!

Well, we are still hard at work on Episode Eight. And when I say hard, I mean it. This week was the most rigorous week we’ve had as far as Smooth Few Films goes, so it’s been pretty nuts. While we’re not keen on giving out release dates (any number of things can cause a delay when working on an episode), it should be here at some point next week. We’ll give you more when we have a better idea.

There won’t be reason to stop showing up, though, because our Halo short will be up in the next day or two! This is pretty exciting for us, and we think that you guys should enjoy it. Now if you’re wondering to yourself “What? Why have they been doing this Halo thing instead of TLW”, it’s because we are submitting it to a contest that ends this week. In addition to that, this realistically delayed the release of Episode Eight by less than a day, because it was worked on at points when all 3 of us could not be together to film TLW stuff. So no worries.

In the meantime, here’s some notable gaming news from the last few days: Companion Cubes are on Sale, Crysis Rocks Trip Vid Cards, A Bajillion in the Warhammer Beta, Big Damn NES Controllers/PC’s are Awesome, and New Fixes and Maps are Coming to TF2!

Edit:  Companion cubes are already sold out!  Guess I’m not the only one who needs a fuzzy friend.

Audio Hilarity

Well dudes, things have been going great since the release of Episode Seven. Work on the next episode is progressing smoothly, though it’s a little daunting since this episode will have some complicated elements to it.

Some quick gaming news- IGN has released a “Top 100 Games of All Time” list to feed your fanboyism or your ranting. In my case, it’s both. It’s missing a few notables such as Counter-Strike, Tekken, anything from the Splinter Cell series, and the Sims for example. I’m not sure how MGS2 made the list but not MGS3. A few games were rated pretty low, too, I thought. It’s definitely worth a read though. Click here to discuss it in our forums.

Since I was feeling very generous, I put together a present for you guys: audio outtakes from episodes six and seven.

Enjoy, and please donate.

City 7: Toronto Conflict

This is perhaps some of the coolest game news I’ve seen in some time. City 7: Toronto Conflict is a HL2 mission created by a student development team. Basically, they have recreated the city of Toronto to capture what was a horrific combine occupation not just in City 17, but the entire world. Browse the site, check out the screenshots, and learn more about the mission: it’s cool stuff!

Steam Powered!

Hey dudes, just letting everybody know that there will finally be people playing in our server again, as I have recently gotten my CS:S up and running. Not entirely sure what the problem was, but part of the way through Episode Four (I measure time by episodes now) my CS:S straight up kicked the bucket. A re-install of Steam did not seem to do the trick, so I actually reformatted my hard drive and went with a fresh install of XP, and now all is well. Look for us to be on every now and then (probably even tonight) at 63.209.36.184:27015. Should be fun.

Also, in gaming news this week: 1000 Gamerpoints in 2 minutes, Super Mario Galaxies is the highest rated game of all time, get Halo 3 for free when you buy a 360, Johnathan Coulton sings that awesome Portal song, Bioware is looking for writers!

News to Abuse

Episode Six is nearing completion, and will be out later this week. What’s funny is that as far as production goes, this has been the fastest we have ever gotten an episode completed. Though it doesn’t appear that way from the outside, we are getting more efficient, and doing this in far less time- but since October was a month of hell (for me) and vacations (for Nick and Daniel), it has just taken longer to get the episode released.

Also- Episode Seven should be released in November as well.

And while you wait, check out some interesting video game news for the week: Call of Duty 4 Reviews are trickling out, South Park goes Guitar Hero tonight, Gray Fox ninjas his way onto SSBB, Zero Punctuation reviews Phantom Hourglass, and Super Mario Galaxies rocks.

Those= links. Check ’em out.
