Westheimer: Leader Lore

Super sweet trailer-slash-season recap is coming soon. I think you guys will enjoy getting a brief tour of the storylines of the season so far. You might even pick up on some things that you missed.

I’ve just finished the detailed outline of part three of the Season Finale and now I’m moving into the writing stage. Shouldn’t be too much of a task, since every other line on the pages say “they shoot at each other”, “they have a bad-ass gun battle” or something of that ilk. I imagine it’s much like the script of Episode III of Star Wars. Only with heart.

As promised, this week we bring you the next installment of our beloved character bios. Today, we focus on none other than the lovable Westheimer.

Status Report!

I figured this would be a good time to give you guys the low-down on the progress of the Season Finale, as well as other things that are in the works:

  • Part 1 is in post right now. That means it’s getting edited, introduced to the wonderful world of sound design and music, and touched up with color correcting/special effects, etc.
  • We’re currently filming Part 2. This is actually the hardest part of all 3 portions of the Finale to film, for a few reasons that I won’t go into. Shrouds of secrecy, and such.
  • In addition to working on the Finale, we’re working on a special short “behind-the-scenes” video to give you guys a glimpse into production of The Leet World. This will be out after the season is done.
  • A season recap/trailer for the Finale is hitting the site early next week. Be excited. Also, this trailer will have details about when the Finale is coming.
  • Westheimer’s Bio is on deck for the end of the week.

So there you have it, a slew of updates. That’s right, I said slew. Which isn’t past tense for what I do to dragons. That’s straight up slay-age.:

The Leet World Idol

We’ve got a winner to the Themetacular Contest, and his name is DJ Shox. Wow. I didn’t expect such a turn-around, but apparently, Shox has been hitting the campaign trail. Like. A. Madman. His rendition of the theme song will now land a coveted spot in the Season Finale intro sequence.

Congrats, dude, you earned it. To hear more of DJ Shox’s compositions, feel free to listen at your heart’s content.

To everyone else who entered, much thanks for participating, we really loved hearing all that you guys put out there for us to enjoy. It was such a great thing to see this community jumping into something like this. Not everyone’s favorite won, but hey, that’s why we vote.

Me thinks we need more contests in the future. If you somehow missed all of the excitement, you can go listen to the finalists. But for now, here’s your Miss America:

The Stars at Night= Big + Bright

A reminder for all of you slackers who haven’t voted for the Themetacular Challenge yet — go do it! Voting ends tonight at midnight central standard time, when Texas rolls over from Monday into Tuesday, not unlike some lumbering, snoring giant. Since Texas is the center of the Earth, this makes perfect sense.

A bio is on the way this week as well as some other goodies in the near future. More screenshots from the Season Finale below. And if you haven’t listened to the outtakes from Episode Thirteen yet, go do that.

Los pantalones... Nevar forgivz Back where they started...

More information is coming on the Season Finale soon, including release schedules, etc. I’d tell you more, but many Bothan spies have already died for that info.

The Angry Beard

If you spot an angry beard, be careful. He is like the Cloverfield monster, wreaking general chaos and causing disorientating camera work. And lo, his name be Nick.

Typically, audio outtakes encompass two full episodes, but Episode 13, being our longest and wordiest so far, had enough material all its own to provide you guys with some mega-lulz. Right-click to save, if you must.

Beware, those of you who are feint at heart. Some NSFW language at the end from our typically jovial bearded one. Keep voting on the Themetacular Challenge!

Finale Screenshots

Lots going on in these parts of the webisphere. We’re hard at work on the Season Finale of The Leet World, pushing through to get it done in a timely and awesome manner. I know that last week I said it would be coming out in two installments on our website. Well, sometimes I’m a lying liar.

Fact of the matter is, the episode is getting so big and burly that we’re having to add another installment to it, meaning that the finale is going to be an epic three part release. Each part will come one week after the next, meaning you get three straight weeks of episodic bliss. You may be thinking to yourself, “huh?”, but trust me, it’ll be a lot of fun this way. Seriously, this thing keeps growing like some sort of digital black hole that consumes all in its path. Not even roflcopters can escape its mighty pull. And they are web vehicles of the fastest sort.

Below are the first screenshots of the Season Finale. Lots of dudes and things.

Showdown Planning RLT

Remember to vote for the Themetacular Challenge! There may or may not be lulz coming later this week. Lulz is code for Episode 13 audio outtakes, if you’re wondering. It’s not a very good code.

Machini-maniacs

Just wanted to throw up a quick nod to a few notable machinima releases. For one, LitFuseFilms debuted a new movie/companion piece called Jill’s Song. It’s definitely a departure from their normal stuff as well as machinima in general and it features some incredible faceposing to accompany a brilliant vocal performance from Ricky Grove. Go watch! Also, vote for their film “Dennis” in the BitFilm contest.

Likewise, RoosterTeeth released the first episode of their new Red Vs Blue series, Reconstruction. Definitely an entertaining watch, I completely forgot I was viewing a Halo machinima.

Towards the beginning, you’ll see an impressive big army shot that Smooth Few Films was able to assist with when we visited RoosterTeeth in Austin, due to skillful (not really) puppetry by Daniel, Nick and myself. Listen closely in the shot that follows, and you might hear a familiar voice…

Some Season Finale details and screenshots are coming tonight/tomorrow.

Voting for the Themetacular Challenge ends next week- go vote!

Themetacular Voting Begins!

A “Happy Memorial Day” is in order, I suppose. I think all weekends should be 3 days long by some kind of new Earth law. Also, all burritos should be at least a foot in length. I’d be good at boss-ing the world.

Our next update will have some tantalizing details about the Season Finale. Also, forecasting a high chance of lulz later this week. On to more immediate matters, though.

The entry deadline for the Themetacular Challenge has now passed and the finalists have been chosen. If you weren’t aware, the Themetacular Challenge is our first official contest, where fans submit original covers of The Leet World theme. The winning entry will be played during the intro of the Season Finale.

Overall, we’re proud of the response we’ve gotten from our community. It was definitely a treat to hear some of the stuff you guys came up with- who knew that so much could be derived from a goofy (but cool) intro themetune?

Read on to hear the finalists and the honorable mentions.

Player: Meme Man

Wow. Episode 14 is going to be monstrously big. Orca big. Stay-Puft big. So big that it’s going to be an epic two-parter on our website, with the two segments being released a week apart from one another. And when we defeat it by crossing the streams, it will fall down on you with marshmallow-y goodness.

The Themetacular music contest is now locked and loaded. I’ll post the finalists (and honorable mentions) on Monday. A heads-up: only registered commenters can vote, and the results aren’t public. We did this to quell any kind of cheating or vote tampering. So if you want to vote, get registered. The Leet World is just like the real world in that way.

We’ll be doing audio for Episode 14 tonight. A big audio pow-wow, as it were. Screenies are coming this weekend, and even some audio outtakes for Episode 13 are on the horizon, as well.

And now, the bio that you’ve all been dying for. This week, we take a look at the life of Player. Sort of.

Road Trip!

This weekend was kind of awesome. After staying up until 3 AM to release Episode 13, Smooth Few Films grabbed a highway gear and trucked out of Houston on Friday at 9 AM, bound for Austin, land of the wonderful and weird.

Why were we going? Several weeks ago we received an invitation from none other than Rooster Teeth, the creators of Red vs Blue, to come up for a visit in Austin, where their studio is based. We happily obliged.

Once there, we were given a tour of their place, talked machinima, movies and gaming, grabbed some grub and knocked back a few cold ones. I have to say that Rooster Teeth’s reputation of being nice, super-cool guys is spot on, and they were great hosts. As a long time fan of their work, it was cool validation for me that what we’re doing here on this site is worth the late nights and long hours.

Smooth Few Films + RT

I am bound to the obligatory rule of the internet, “pics or it didn’t happen”. Even when that picture makes me, Nick and Daniel look horrendous.

Pictured: Nick, Eddy and Daniel from Smooth Few Films plus Matt, Burnie and Nathan from Rooster Teeth. Not pictured: Jeff, Eddy’s Dignity.

In other equally awesome news, my brother Kerry, who plays Leeroy, graduated college this weekend. Congrats dude.
